In the fall of 2011, a small group of friends began meeting together in coffee shops and homes, to worship, fellowship, and study the Bible. Over time, and after much prayer, the group felt called to plant a church in the Okoboji area.

Downtown Church began meeting publicly in December of 2012, and became an official member church of the Evangelical Free Church of America in the spring of 2013.

 

In 2018 we were approached by another local church (New Journey Baptist) that wanted to merge together with us. After much prayer and discussion, both churches voted to become one church family. New Journey wanted us to keep the name and style of Downtown, but to bring our ministry to their building in Milford. God has been so gracious during this time, that we don’t even talk about the “old” churches anymore. We have moved forward with much unity, as we worship God together and seek to bless our area with the gospel and deeds of love. Since the merger our church has added many new and wonderful members. Because of this we have been in a process of transforming and adding onto our building.
